Events to look forward to in the months to come

I'm having a bit of a crap day, so I thought I'd write a little post for two reasons...

  1. The obvious being to cheer myself up
  2. The second less obvious reason being to get in the mood for writing my English coursework
Although life right now is proving to be tough, frustrating and incredibly stressful, looking to all the exciting things coming up in the near future really does help in getting through the tough times now. So, this is going to be my countdown to all these exciting things...

Gigs Gigs Gigs

22 DAYS UNTIL - Friendly Fires - Live at Cambridge Corn Exchange
42 DAYS UNTIL - Example - Live at Cambridge Corn Exchange
166 DAYS UNTIL - Bombay Bicycle Club - Er... Live at Cambridge Corn Exchange

LOS ANGELES

100 DAYS UNTIL LA - To say i'm excited is an understatement. I'm even looking forward to the 11 hour flight. It's going to be so good, I hope America lives up to my expectations. I shall post the itinery when I get it, but we're definitely visiting...

  • Universal Studios
  • Warner Bros Studios (VIP Tour)
  • Workshop with New York Film School
  • Santa Monica
  • Stars Homes Tour
Must remind myself to prepare my American themed playlist for my iPod; Kids in America, Party in the USA, American Idiot. I never thought I'd have Miley Cyrus on my iPod, I'll have to think about that one.  I'm now going to go and do what I should have been doing all day... well, over half term.

October 'Things I Want But Can't Afford' List

Ah, the wishlist. Otherwise known as the things I want but don't really need. So what is it this month?
[1] River Island - Black Scalloped Edge Padlock Bag - £40
I've had my eye on this bag for a long time now, and very almost bought it when I was in Leeds...   and Bedford... and Cambridge. Erm, yeah I just want this bag. It's so cute, and although I would like it to be slightly bigger I can settle for this size. (Well that sounded very wrong)
[2] O.P.I Muppets Collection - Rainbow Connection - £9.50 (Amazon)
O.P.I? Muppets Collection?! Just awesomeness in a bottle. Being a bit of a glitter addict, I was just drawn to this particular colour, talk about stand-out nails!
[3] O.P.I Divine Swine - £8.99 (Amazon)
The same reasons as Rainbow Connection, although mainly due to the fact I am a sucker for pink nail polish.
[4] Deborah Lippman Candy Shop - £BloodyExpensive
I only came across this nail polish a couple of days ago, but it was love at first sight. You may have gathered that I love glitter nail polish, and that I love pink nail polish, so together it's just a winner for me! Unfortunately, I've found it really hard to find somewhere in the UK that I can buy it, even online it's been difficult, and when I have found it it's been stupidly expensive.
[5] Models Own/Wah - Black Nail Art Pen - £6
I've got a bit bored of having plain nails, and looking through loads of blogs I've found so many cute nail designs. I'm particularly a fan of polka dots and leopard print.
[6] Lush Cosmetic - Warrior Fresh Face Mask - £5.50
My skins is just so prone to breakouts, and apparently this face mask is great for spot-prone skin. Although I've heard it doesn't smell too good (seeing as it's got garlic in it)  it's apparently very effective.
[7] Nails Inc - Magnetic Nail Polish in Houses of Parliament - £7 (On BuyaPowa.com)
I actually bought this yesterday when I spotted it on BuyaPowa.com at the amazing price of £7 which is £6 off RRP! I was originally going to buy the 17 Magnetic Polish, but seeing as it's only a pound cheaper than what I paid for the Nails Inc version, I thought I would go for Nails Inc and try a brand I'm not always going to be able to afford. Apparently the Magnetic Nails trend is going to be huge over Autumn/Winter11.
[8] River Island - Black Stud and Spike Shoes - £65
I really have a thing for studs at the moment, and aren't these shoes just gorgeous? Unfortunately they're limited edition and they've sold out in my size on the website, so I don't think I'll actually be getting a pair of these. I don't know if I could bring myself to spend the £65 anyway!

There's a few other things I wouldn't mind on payday (like a few polishes from the new Models Own Beetlejuice range) but I suppose I better stop there.

NOTD: Models Own Coral Reef

That's right! Models Own yet again. I know this might be a little too bright seeing as it's almost November, but I just can't bring myself to wear horrible, dull colours. This picture makes my application look really bad, but trust me it doesn't actually look that bad on my nails, well... from a distance anyway. I am still to master the art of painting nails. This has got to be in my top 3 favourite nail polishes, it's always the one I first go for when choosing a colour, but I then have to stop myself and remind myself that I do have other colours to. It's great for the summer, but I'm making use of it now across Autumn/Winter.

Today I'm off to my friend Charlotte's house with a few of the girls to do some holiday planning for next Summer before they go off to university, as unfortunately i'm not going until the year after. Bring on the sunshine!

I jumped on the graze bandwagon

Oh yes I did. Since having a blog, I've seen graze mentioned quite a lot and decided to try it out myself. I mean food... that's my kind of thing, and how I enjoyed rating each item on the website. Although, it did make me realise how fussy I actually can be though, I mean the amount of items I binned, a little excessive maybe.

  1. Apple and Cinnamon Flapjack - 8/10
"Rustic rolled oat flapjack with apple and cinnamon"Apple and cinnamon were just made for each other... just like me and Enrique Iglesias ;) (in my dreams)
  2. Banoffee Pie - 5/10
"Banana coins, fudge, almonds and pecans"
It definitely does taste like Banoffee pie, and I like Banoffee pie. Just, not so sure about this.
  3. Golden Honey Nut Cashews 8/10
    "Cashews roasted with sweet honey"
OH MY GOD, I think I'm in heaven. Taste's like Kelloggs Crunchy Nut but healthier and minus the cereal.
  4. Cheddar, Red Onion and Chutney - 7/10
    "Deli-topped focaccia from the bakery"
I wasn't so sure about this one, in fact I thought I had binned it, but it's actually pretty tasty.
Conclusion: graze is a great way to try out new and healthy foods. I got this box for free using a code, but for what you get I think these boxes are well worth the £3.49 (including P+P). I'm not sure if I'm going to carry on with it, but I am impressed. If you want to try a box for free then use this code... NRQJVT8D

NOTD: Models Own Top Turquoise

Models Own yet again (surprise surprise), so Top Turquoise was a bit of a surprise for me when it came through my letter box, I really wasn't expecting it to be so, well... dark I guess. But I love it anyway, it's just not as bright as the picture of the Models Own website. Same as usual when it comes to Models Own, great and easy application, beautiful colour, fast drying... and all that jazz. All I have to say is buy it.

I'm now going to enjoy my graze box for my review coming up soon, must. stop. eating. these. cashew. nuts.

My Growing Nail Polish Collection

Yes, we have indeed another nail polish related post! I'll try not to make this a constant thing, but honestly as sad as it is, it's the only thing I have at the moment to post about. I must take pictures of more interesting things, the camera I use belongs to my Dad and I'm too scared to take it out in case I break it. But anyway, yesterday I mentioned how obsessed I am with Models Own nail polish , and my collection is growing rapidly each payday.

So, here are some images of my nail polish collection, about a month ago all I owned were the Barry M polish, and lets be honest, they are nothing on Models Own.

Bottom Row - Barry M: Shocking Pink, Nails Effects Black, Raspberry, Fuchsia
ELF: Black
Models Own: Peacock Green, Disco Mix, Betty Blue

Models Own: Pastel Pink, Jade Stone, Coral Reef

Models Own: Top Turquoise, Silver Fox, Lilac Dream
FAVOURITES: Disco Mix, Coral Reef, Jade Stone, and Lilac Dream.
LUSTING AFTER: Models Own Nail Art Pen, Purple Poppy, Feeling Blue, Emerald City, and from the new 'Beetlejuice Collection' Purple Blue and Aqua Violet

Conclusion: If you haven't tried
Models Own, then you should.

NOTD: Models Own Disco Mix and Elf Black - "Nail Polish Obsessed Freak"

Models Own - Disco Mix - £5.00
I thought I would introduce the very cliche 'Nails of the Day' feature to my blog. Mainly because to the horror of many of my friends, I am ultimately becoming a nail obsessed freak. It pretty much happened overnight, well since the arrival of my first Models Own order. Now all I find myself doing for the majority of the day is looking through beauty blogs for reviews, not only about nail products but make-up in general. But, I guess it's what having a blog does to you; you find new interests, and that's a good thing, right?

Anyway! Back to the point of this post. I really cannot get enough of Models Own right now, and buying the same brand just makes my nail polish collection look so tidy. I can't lie about the amount of times I've organised my Models Own collection into a colour-ordered line. What has happened to me? Disco Mix is such a fun colour to wear and I've had plenty of compliments about it's appearance. Its a mix of purple, blue and silver glitter particles, which I chose to paint over the top of Elf's black nail polish. Although glitter polish is prone to chipping easily, Disco Mix has stayed chip-free for four days, which is pretty impressive seeing as I haven't been wearing a top coat.

So, to bring this post to a close, I would definitely recommend you all try out Models Own. They have some great offers if you buy in a bundle, and on the 1st November they're releasing a new range of 'duo-chrome' polishes called the 'Beetlejuice Collection'. I'm so excited to try these out, bring on payday!

Disco Mix is available from the Models Own website for £5.00
Black is available from the Elf website for £1.50

Money does bad things to me.

I started my job at Sainsburys last week, and I can tell you now, payday does bad things to me. I always thought of myself as more of a saver, but I've been spending like a maniac. I bought a blazer from River Island for £40, and I spent £25 on Models Own Nail Varnish earlier. I should probably add that payday was two days ago. Oh well, It's nice to be spending my own hard-earned money rather then palming money off of my parents all the time.
Both River Island  - Blue Blazer £40 - Black Blazer - £45

I bought the blue blazer but i'm not sure whether to take it back and buy the black one. I've found it quite hard to match up with my wardrobe, what do you think I should do? Also, I have a party this Friday and I NEED to find a dress asap. Can anyone recommend somewhere to look? I'm very fussy.

Anyway, I need to go and write a History essay for first lesson tomorrow. Wish me luck!

A trip to Newcastle

I've been terrible at blogging again, I really must improve, sorry three followers. But anyway, back to the point of this post. I visited the faraway city of Newcastle two weekends ago to go to the university open day. It was a loooooooooooooong (excessive amount of O's represent the length of the journey - practicing analysis for my English essay) journey up there, in fact it was seven and a half hours. OK, fine the traffic can be blamed for about two hours of that but still it was LONG! The University somewhat reminded me of Hogwarts, old, castle-like, a dog with three heads and a few dragons hanging about... fine, maybe not the last part, but it was really quite pretty.

The University
After visiting the university, we went for a walk around Newcastle to get a 'feel' of the place. The Quayside (pronounced Keyside, yeah I don't get it either) was beautiful! Well, if you ignore the drunks and men dressed up as women, which there was plenty of.
View from the Millennium bridge on the Quayside
I loved Newcastle. The university was great, the people were so lovely, and it was such a nice place. I don't think I'll be going to university there though, we'll just have to wait and see in a couple of years time.
